Research Department
ABC Research continues our commitment to interrogating systemic racism and amplifying the lived experiences of arts & STEM practitioners, administrators, and entrepreneurs of color by creating research guided by our programmatic, consulting, and development departments. We help add to the conversations that directly affect the work ABC provides.
ABC acknowledges that knowledge is critical to making informed business decisions, but the resources necessary to make those informed decisions remain out of sight in businesses and organizations rooted in or led by communities of color. Our researchers know a significant gap remains and provide research that improves the organization with implications for our community and society. Researchers work with leaders in each department, looking inward to enhance development, consulting, and action projects while providing insight into current issues in POC communities and the larger arts and STEM fields.
Every ABC effort goes through our Research team, improving how we program, fundraise, and consult with people and organizations. Our action-oriented researchers work with two main frameworks:
Human Relations Management Theory — This theory suggests employee productivity and motivation can increase when positive social bonds, individual acknowledgment, and improved working conditions are present.
Race Equity Theory — This theory encourages consideration of the lived experiences of people often marginalized by society.
